The change-order line is the one that saves money

On a jobsite, scope drifts. A work order that has room for "what changed, what it costs and who said yes" turns a verbal 'go ahead' into something you can point to later.

Keep the original scope short and specific. Vague scopes cause most of the arguments that follow.

Reference the contract

Add the contract or PO number so the work order maps to the paperwork you invoice against.

Separate base scope from additions

Fill the change-order block rather than editing the base scope. It shows exactly what was added.

Tired of re-typing the same details?

Keep these jobs in the free work order app instead. Assign a technician, set a due date and see what's overdue, without printing anything.

Template questions

What is a construction work order?

A written authorization for a defined piece of work on a project, usually referencing a contract and listing scope, cost and approval.

How is it different from a change order?

A work order authorizes work; a change order records a change to previously agreed scope or price. This template has a block for each.

Can I use it for subcontractors?

Yes. Use the trade / subcontractor field and keep a signed copy with the contract file.

Is the template legally binding?

It's a record, not legal advice. Contract terms and enforceability depend on your jurisdiction and agreements.
