Wrenchlist

For owners who still run jobs from texts

Work order software for small business, minus the enterprise weight

If your job list lives in a group chat, a whiteboard and your own head, you're one forgotten callback away from a bad review. Wrenchlist gives a small crew one clear list: what's open, who has it, what's late.

Free to start. No card, no account.

What changes on day one

Less chasing, fewer dropped jobs

Nothing here needs training. If you can fill out a contact form, you can run it.

  • Write the job down once

Customer, address, what's wrong, who's going and when. The tech reads the same words you typed, so there's nothing to relay by phone.

  • Every job has an owner

Assigned jobs show a name. Unassigned ones are obvious, which is the whole point. Work that nobody owns is the work that slips.

  • Late shows up in red

Anything past its due date flips to Overdue by itself. You see it on the dashboard before the customer has to call and ask.

  • Find the old job in seconds

Search by customer, street or job number. When Mrs. Okafor calls about the outlets from March, you're not scrolling a text thread.

  • Costs what a lunch does

Free covers a solo operator or a two-person crew. Pro is $19 a month and you can leave whenever.

  • Your data stays with you

Work orders are stored in your browser, not sold, mined or shared. Export a CSV any time you want your own copy.

A realistic Tuesday

Four jobs, two techs, one screen

Say a tenant calls about a leaking line, a dentist's rooftop unit trips again, a homeowner wants outlets added and the bakery's boiler inspection is coming due. That's four jobs with four different deadlines.

In Wrenchlist each one is a row with a status, a priority and a person. Urgent work floats up, quiet work waits, and the overdue one nags you until it's closed.

  • Priority from low to urgent, so triage is one glance
  • Due dates that read as Today, Tomorrow or 2d late
  • Notes for parts, gate codes and access instructions

How owners usually move over

Most small shops don't switch because a tool is better. They switch after one embarrassing miss: a callback nobody returned, a job done twice, a customer who found out their appointment was never booked. The goal of this software is to make that miss less likely on an ordinary week.

So start small. Add the jobs you already have on the board today, assign them, and use the dashboard for a week. If it earns its place, add your other technicians and start printing PDFs for customers. If not, export your data and walk away. Nothing is locked in.

Questions people actually ask

Do I need to create an account?

No. The app opens straight to your dashboard and saves your work orders in your own browser. There's no sign-up, so there's no password to forget.

Can my whole crew use it?

Today each browser keeps its own data, so it works best when one person (the owner or dispatcher) enters jobs. Shared workspaces with sync are planned for the Team plan and aren't live yet.

Is this really free?

Yes. Free includes unlimited work orders, two technicians, the dashboard and the printable templates. Paid plans add PDF export, signatures, photos, CSV export, more technicians and recurring jobs.

What if I outgrow it?

Export your work orders to CSV and move them wherever you like. If you grow into full dispatching and invoicing, tools like Jobber or ServiceTitan are built for that.

Put your open jobs on one screen

Open the live app, add today's work and see what's late. It takes about as long as reading this page did.
